Mazda Reveals Mazda HAZUMI Concept Car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show
Mazda revealed the new Hazumi, the company's next generation
subcompact concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It features
Mazda's Kodo design concept, Skyactiv technology, Proactive Safety, and a
new in-car connectivity system called MZD Connect.
The name Hazumi means 'bound' or 'spring up' in Japanese which the
automaker says "well-suited to a small car that appears to be bursting
with energy." The four-door hatchback showcases Mazda's Kodo design
language in a small package.
The headlamps and front grille of the vehicle is designed to be as
low to the ground as possible to give the front design of Hazumi a sharp
look. Mazda says the LED guiding rings of the car adds depth and
solidity to the headlamps. With Hazumi’s short overhangs, the Japanese
automaker intends to have an athletic silhouette of a sports car when
viewed from the side. On the rear, its taillamps are designed to look
like watchful eyes.
The interior of the vehicle shares the same dynamic sense of the Shinari, Minagi, and Takeri concept cars which preceded it. It is designed with a black leather as the base and a white leather is used in certain places such as the instrument panel. A Crimson-colored leather with a nubuck feel is used on the seats.
The suspended center console creates more legroom. The instrument cluster features a single, centrally-positioned gauge with minor displays on either side.
The Active Driving Display and command control is situated in the center display.
